IMC 2011:Firaxe

I was fortunate to be able to attend the Illustration Master Class again this year. We were given several projects to choose from, and in keeping with tradition I worked on another sci-fi piece:

Oil on Panel, about 15"x23.5"

It turns out that assignment had been provided by Irene Gallo, and is the same story excerpt she offered up for the July/August challenge over at Jon Schindehette's Art Order.

  1. Cool illustration. I love the spacesuits especially the head and neck areas.

  3. I love how you handled the ship. I have been trying to wrap my brain visually around the description since Jon issued the challenge. It just isn't happening for me. Good job man.

  4. Thanks, Autumn. I had a hard time trying to reconcile the ship being lumpy like wood at the same time as being like an elongated snow flake. So I decided to hide it, and try to have little bits of alien-ness peek through.
